Editor’s note: Below is a compilation of the statistics and achievements for graduates of Chilton County area schools who now compete at the college level.

Baseball

Chance Calloway (Chilton County 2012) is a relief pitcher for the University of West Florida, which fell to 30-18 overall and 21-11 in Gulf South Conference action after sustaining a 4-3 loss at the University of West Alabama (41-9, 26-10 Gulf South Conference) in the second round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament on May 3 in Livingston.

Alex Campbell (Jemison 2013) collected a win after hurling two strikeouts and allowing one earned run as a relief pitcher for Wallace Community College – Selma (25-30, 15-17 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) in a 7-5 triumph against Southern Union State University (29-23, 15-13 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) on May 8 in Ozark.

For the season, the sophomore’s compiled a 6-4 record, three complete games, 57.1 innings pitched, 43 strikeouts and a 5.34 ERA through 17 appearances and 11 starts.

Cameron Cummings (Chilton County 2013) is an infielder for the University of South Alabama, which fell to 34-18 overall and 19-8 in Sun Belt Conference play after surrendering a 3-2 loss at the University of Louisiana – Lafayette (31-19, 15-11 Sun Belt Conference) on May 10 in Lafayette, Louisiana.
For the season, the sophomore’s tallied 13 runs scored, three RBIs, two stolen bases, one double and a .281 batting average.

Craig Headley (Chilton County 2013) finished 1-for-3 from the plate and scored one run as a catcher for Jefferson Davis Community College (20-31, 10-22 Alabama Community College Conference South Division) in a 5-3 loss at Wallace Community College – Selma on May 2 in Selma.

For the season, the sophomore’s totaled 33 runs scored, 18 RBI, 16 doubles, six stolen bases, two triples, one home run and a .309 batting average.

Blake Teel (Chilton County 2014) contributed a 2 1/3-inning effort as the starting pitcher for Marion Military Institute (30-21, 16-12 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) in a 13-3 loss to Faulkner State Community College (29-22, 22-10 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) on May 8 in Enterprise.

For the season, the freshman’s tallied a 5-1 record, three complete games, 59 1/3 innings pitched, 17 strikeouts and a 3.03 ERA through 11 starts.

James Ratliff (Chilton County 2014) concluded his freshman season as a relief pitcher for Marion Military Institute by delivering 8 2/3 innings pitched, five strikeouts and a 7.27 ERA through seven appearances.

Men’s golf

Forrest Knight (Chilton County 2013) earned a berth to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships as an individual for the University of North Alabama men’s golf program after placing eighth at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional Tournament from May 4-6 in Dade City, Fla.

In the competition, the sophomore collected the No. 1 performance for the Lions by posting a score of 215 with rounds of 73, 72 and 70.

The only other individual to advance from the regional tournament was Florida Institute of Technology’s Gaelan Trew, who finished tied for 12th with a score of 216 (73-70-73).

For the season, Knight has twice been named as the Gulf South Conference Player of the Month.

From March 1 to April 1, the sophomore collected his most recent medalist honor at the Argonaut Invitational with a score of 140 (68-72) en route to leading UNA to victory among the 16 teams in Pensacola, Fla. and receiving his most recent GSC Player of the Month award.

Softball

Brianna Cleckler (Chilton County 2013) collected a win after firing five strikeouts and allowing two earned runs in a six-inning performance as a relief pitcher for Southern Union State Community College (45-15, 19-7 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) in an 8-4 victory against Central Alabama Community College (45-15, 17-9 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) on April 26 in Alabaster.

For the season, the sophomore’s tallied a 27-8 record, 27 complete games, 211 1/3 innings pitched, 103 strikeouts and a 2.68 ERA through 36 appearances and 33 starts.

Shelby Lopez (Jemison 2012) completed her junior season as a catcher for the University of Montevallo by leading the Falcons to finish 21-31 overall and 11-13 in Peach Belt Conference play.

For the season, she compiled 17 runs scored, 10 stolen bases, eight RBI, four doubles, one triple and a .256 batting average.

Lauren Stewart (Chilton County 2012) concluded her junior season as an infielder for Spring Hill College by leading the Badgers to a 36-7 overall and 18-0 record in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

For the season, she’s totaled 18 runs, 13 RBI, three home runs, three doubles and a .324 batting average.

Holly Watts (Chilton County 2014) batted 1-for-1 as an infielder for Southern Union Community College in an 11-7 loss to Wallace State Community College – Hanceville (62-14, 23-1 Alabama Community College Conference North Division) on April 26 in Alabaster.

For the season, the freshman’s compiled 13 RBI, six runs scored, five doubles, three home runs and a .326 batting average.

Women’s outdoor track and field

Lori Davis (Billingsley 2012) is a javelin thrower for Alabama State University, which will resume competition at the University of Georgia Invitational on May 9 in Athens, Ga.

In the junior’s most recent appearance, she led the Hornets to clinch its sixth consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships title among the field of 10 teams at the conference championship meet from April 24-26 in Normal.

In the competition, she captured a first-place finish in the javelin with a launch of 126 feet, 9.25 inches en route to leading ASU to its 10th conference title in program history.

For the season, she’s posted a personal-best mark in the javelin of 138-7.75.
