After an extraordinary four-week span where he won medalist honors at two tournaments that included many of the top ranked teams in the NCAA Division II, University of North Alabama sophomore Forrest Knight has been named Gulf South Conference Golfer of the Month for March.

Knight, a Clanton native, took Medalist honors at the Southeastern Collegiate Tournament on March 10 after firing rounds of 72, 67 and 69 for a 208 total in a field of 90 golfers.

On March 31, he won his second tournament of the month when he took Medalist honors at the Argonaut Invitational in Pensacola, Fla.

In that event, he posted a seven-under-par 209 total that gave him a healthy six-stroke victory. He had rounds of 69, 72 and 69 to claim the win in a field of 84 golfers.

In between the two wins, he finished tied for 57th at the Bobcat Invitational at 226 and tied for sixth at the UNA Spring Classic at 219.

For the month, he played 12 rounds and had a 71.8-stroke average. Eight of his 12 rounds were par or below, and four rounds were under 70.
