Shirley Grant, 74, of Verbena, passed away on Dec. 11 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center in Alabaster.

She was born in Clanton on Nov. 7, 1940, the daughter of the late Will Jones and the late Everine Brasher Jones.

She was a former assemblywoman.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Kim) Grant of Clanton; daughter, Debra (James) Gentry of Verbena; daughter, Judy (Tim) Richards of Verbena; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Jones of Clanton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Grant and sister, Willodean Mims.

Visitation will be held on Dec. 13 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Christensen, the Rev. Wayne Smith, and the Rev. Jimmy Simpler officiating.

Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Church of God Cemetery in Clanton.
