Both teams would go three and out on their first possession of the game, and each would see their drives stall on the opponents side of the field on their second possession.

The Maplesville (9-0 Overall; 6-0 Area) offense would finally kick into gear with their third possession of the game. Facing a third and eight from their own six yard line, quarterback Nicholas Spencer would connect with Kendarius Bradley for forty-six yards down to the Sweet Water forty-eight yard line. Corey Hall would cap off the ninety-six yard drive with a four yard touchdown run to give the Red Devils an early 6-0 lead. John Schoener would at the PAT to give Maplesville a 7-0 lead.

After three and outs by both teams, the Red Devil offense would take over with a first and ten from their own forty-one yard line. On the first play of the drive, Terence Dunlap would take the handoff and scamper fifty-nine yards for a Maplesville touchdown. With Schoners’ PAT up and good, the Red Devils took a 14-0 lead late in the second quarter.

With twenty-three second to play in the first half, Spencer would cap off a forty-seven yard drive with a one yard touchdown run and the Red Devils would take a 21-0 lead to the locker room at the half.

After their first possession of the second half ended in a lost fumble, the Red Devils would get back into the scoring trend with their second possession of the half. Setting up from their own twenty-nine yard line, Terrance Dunlap would bring the drive to a close with a forty-seven yard touchdown run to bring the Maplesville lead to 28-0 late in the third quarter.

With the Maplesville defense continuing to make life difficult for the Bulldogs offense, the Sweet Water (7-3; 6-1) defense would answer the call to break the shutout as Markell Evans would scoup up a Red Devils fumble and return it sixty-four yards for a touchdown. With Deshawn Blanks adding the PAT, the Bulldogs cut the Maplesville lead to twenty-one, 28-7.

The Maplesville offense would answer right back with their ensuing possession when Dunlap would pick up another rushing touchdown, this time from thirty-nine yards out to put the Red Devils up 35-7 with 7:38 left to play.

The Red Devil kicking team would come away with a recovery on the ensuing onside kick, but it would be the Bulldogs that would get the better end of this deal as their defense would again take advantage of a Red Devil turnover as Deshon Kilpatrick would scoup and score on the Maplesville fumble taking it back sixty yards for the touchdown.

With 7:22 to play, Maplesville lead 35-13.

Setting up their next possession from their own forty-four, the Red Devils would pound away at the Bulldogs and the game clock via the running game.

With 1:28 left to play, Spencer would cap off the drive with a one yard touchdown run to bring the score to its final, 42-14.

“These kids have fought hard all year and it is paying off,” said Maplesville head Coach Brent Hubbert. “We have Millry coming to town next week and we are excited to start the playoffs here at home.”
