Mary N. Popwell, 94, of Clanton, passed away Oct. 28 at Merry Wood Lodge, Elmore.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1919, in Birmingham, the daughter of the late John Otis Henry Newell and the late Willie Reynolds Newell.

Surviving are her daughters, Chris Popwell (David) Dodd of Millbrook, Carole Popwell Adams of Carrabelle, Fla; granddaughter, Newell Dodd (Kevin Waldrop) of LaPorte, Texas; great-grandson, Keegan Waldrop of LaPorte, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Willie Newell; grandparents, Judge L. H. and Dora Reynolds; sisters, Helen McKinstry, Elizabeth Squires, Kathryn Crowson.

Graveside services were held Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. at Clanton City Cemetery with the Rev. Barbara Bowers Brewi officiating.
