Clyde Whalon Ellison Sr., 78, of Thorsby, passed away Aug. 9.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1935, in Shelby County, the son of the late Clyde Ellison and the late Janie Bolton Ellison.

He was a contractor.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette G. Ellison of Thorsby; daughter, Michelle E. Headley (Joe) of Clanton; grandsons, John Wesley “Wes” Gandy III of Jemison, Cory Heath “TugBoat” Gandy of Thorsby; brothers, Jarome Ellison (Peggy) of Indian Springs, Wayne Ellison (Lyndel) of Jemison, Dennis Ellison of Mobile; sisters, Sandra Shempert (Thomas) of Jemison, Jenny Woods of Clanton, Joan (Calvin) Hayes of Jemison.

He was preceded in death by his son, Clyde Whalon “Trip” Ellison.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. Aug. 10 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in Midway Memorial Gardens in Jemison.
