Betty Jean Young, 71, of Clanton, passed away at her home on Tuesday April 22 surrounded by her family.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1942, to the late John Pitts and the late Mary Pearl Herring Pitts.

She was a school bus driver.

She is survived by her husband, Ross Young; daughter, Beverly Harper (Stan); son, Richard Taylor (Lisa); daughter, Starr Shirley (Joe); step-son, Ross Young Jr.; step-daughter, Bessie Gay Young; grandchildren, Josh Roebuck, Kellie Taylor Smith (Robert), Jay Taylor (Candice), Greg Shirley, Kayla Shirley; six great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Young and sister, Vera White (Leroy).

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Pearl Pitts.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
