Billingsley couldn’t punch in a score from Autaugaville’s 4-yard line late in Friday’s game and fell, 26-20.

The Bears are now 1-2 on the season.

Thomas Nichols’ nine-yard pass to Jaytarius Steele was BHS’s only score of the first half, as the Bears trailed 20-8 at halftime.

Nichols found Isaac Green for a 15-yard scoring strike in the second half, and Tommy Williams picked up a fumble and returned it 39 yards to paydirt to tie the game at 20-all.

But Autaugaville found a way to score again and Billingsley couldn’t.

Nichols completed 13-of-22 passes for 189 yards.

Steele caught five of those passes for 76 yards. Rashaud Caver caught three passes for 71 yards and also picked up 56 yards on 15 carries.

Terrance Nolen rushed 15 times for 47 yards and recorded nine tackles and an interception on defense.

Williams had five tackles to go along with the fumble return.
