James Arthur Cooedy, 78, of Clanton, passed away on Sept. 3 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on June 9, 1935, in Alabama, the son of the late Lester Cooedy and the late Ollie Mae Jackson Cooedy.

He was an operator.

Surviving are his wife, Mary N. Cooedy of Clanton; son, Neal Cooedy of Clanton; daughter-in-law, Shelia Ann Cooedy of Clanton; granddaughter, Jessica Lane Chapman (Kyle); grandson, Nathan Chapman of Clanton; great-grandson, Hunter Chapman of Clanton; great-granddaughter, Kelcie Layne Chapman; brothers, Marvin Cooedy of Clanton; Willie “Buddy” Cooedy of Clanton; and sister, Flora Mae Price of Clanton.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Cooedy.

Friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Sept. 5 at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be held on Sept. 6 at 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Dodson officiating.

Interment will follow in Liberty Hill Baptist Cemetery in Clanton.
