Rocky Mount United Methodist Church

Sunday’s scripture lesson came from Acts 2:1-21. We’ve all seen the power of the wind in the form of tornados, but Sunday we heard more about the power of the wind, whether empowering Peter with the Holy Spirit, or in the question of “seeing” the wind compared with “seeing” the Holy Spirit.

Unbelievers might ask a Christian to show them their Christ. We can show them the results of Christ, just as they can show us the results of the wind. So many things can hold us back from getting the full power of the Holy Spirit: the problem of being a comfortable Christian; intellectual laziness; individual only; neglecting to pray; the “me first” selfishness problem and absent faith/unbelief.

If you are interested in hearing the full explanation of these problems, hear the complete sermon Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. on WKLF-FM 95.5 Clanton.

Join us on Wednesday evenings, Sunday morning and Sunday evening. We have so much to offer!

See you Sunday!

Mountain Springs Church

Services started on Sunday with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms,” “When the Redeemed Are Gathering In,” “I’d Rather Be an Old Time Christian” and “Just A Little While.”

Bro. Ashley Bice gave a devotion from Matthew 6:19-21: We carry things that are important to us, but we will always need to carry Jesus throughout our lives. What do you carry in your wallet?

After Sunday school, Bro. Kenneth Moates led the church in the hymn “Are You Washed in the Blood” and Ricky Cleckler sang “If I Could Still Go Free.”

Bro. Don preached from James 1:22-25: The word of God is a reflection of our spiritual lives. The only true reflection we can get is from the word of God because it is perfect.

Sunday night’s service began with Bro. Kenneth leading the church in the hymns “Just a Little Talk With Jesus,” “Camping in Canaan’s Land,” “Feel My Way With Love” and “Heaven’s Jubilee.”

Bro. Kenneth Moates gave a devotion from Acts 20:35: We often forget what a blessing it is to give rather than to receive. It’s not about giving, but what we give through our hearts.

Kevin Vines sang “So Much to Thank Him For” and blessed the church with a wonderful song.

Bro. Don preached from 1 Corinthians 1:2-31. God’s great pleasure is to mold us and shape us so he can get glory out of it. It doesn’t matter where we’ve been or where we are today, but it matters where we want to be tomorrow.

Don’t forget our services are Sundays at 9:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!
