Charles Wilbur Martin

Charles Wilbur Martin, 81, of Jones, passed away on April 12, 2013 at Noland Hospital in Montgomery. He was born in Elmore County on May 23, 1931, the son of the late Willie Allen Martin and the late Edith Osborn Martin.

He was a retired crew foreman with Florida REA. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in Korea.

He is survived by his daughter, Ophelia George; son, Charles (Debbie) Martin of Jones; son, Allen Martin (Mary) of Jones; son, Raymond Martin (Barbara) of Plantersville; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Lula Bell Spigner of Billingsley; brother, James (Lois) Martin of Montgomery and brother, Calvin Martin (Sue) of Phoenix City.

Visitation was held on April 15 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison-Cleckler Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held on April 16 at 2 p.m. from Alpine Baptist Church with the Rev. William Earl Short, the Rev. Billy Wyatt, the Rev. Ken Brand and the Rev. Jay Mims officiating.

The body will be in state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Burial will follow in the Alpine Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville.
