Though not part of the Chilton County Baseball Tournament, two county teams squared off Wednesday, with Thorsby taking a 6-4 win over Maplesville.

Maplesville took an early lead by scoring two runs in the top of the second inning, and the Red Devils left the game-tying runners on base in the seventh inning.

Chris Brown and Jagger Cook each went 2-for-3 at the plate for Thorsby. One of Brown’s hits was a triple, and he accounted for three runs batted in.

Bo Hoffman hit a home run for THS, and Cody Scott scored two runs.

Colby Chambers was 3-for-3 at the plate for MHS with two runs scored.

Braden McRae pitched 4 2/3 innings for Thorsby and held the Devils to two runs. He struck out six batters and didn’t issue a walk.

Thorsby picked up a win over Alabama Christian Academy on Monday, 9-2.

The Rebels scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Hoffman and Tyler Owens each went 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles. Owens drove in five runs.

Matt Morgan was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and three runs scored.

He was part of a three-man effort on the mound–along with Hoffman and Brantly Maddox, that kept the ACA bats in check.

Scott snagged a hard line drive and then stepped on first base for an unassisted double play to end the game.
