The Maplesville Town Council has changed its regular meeting day to Monday.

The council previously met on the second Tuesday of each month but adjusted the day to accommodate the schedules of Hollis Jackson, the town’s attorney, and several council members.

Mayor W.C. Hayes and council members Hal Harrison, Sheila Hall, Hilda Atchison, Richard Davis and Patty Crocker approved the change at their organizational meeting in November.

The council now meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Maplesville Town Hall in the library.

At the first Monday meeting Dec. 10, the council heard an audit report by Janice Hull of Hull & Russell.

The town received funds from its insurance company for property stolen from Maplesville’s street department lot. A trailer and a generator used to flow electricity into town hall during power outages were stolen.

The town is currently checking on prices to replace the trailer and will make a decision on whether to replace the generator at another time.

In other business, the council approved Patty Crocker, mayor pro tem, as an alternate voting member of the Regional Planning Commission in the absence of Hayes, Maplesville’s voting member.

The council also voted to donate $50 to the Maplesville High School boys and girls basketball programs and will be added to a list of sponsors that will appear on a sign in the MHS gym for the 2012-2013 season.

Town Hall will be closed for the holidays on Monday, Dec. 24; Tuesday, Dec. 25; and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Garbage will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 26, and Wednesday, Jan. 2, instead of Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
