Bears alive, will play Saturday

One local volleyball team remains alive in super regional tournament play after Friday’s opening round.

Billingsley defeated Fruitdale, 3-0 on Friday at the Cramton Bowl Sportsplex in Montgomery.

The Bears will face Sacred Heart at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

Maplesville, which was also competing in the Class 1A South Super Regional Tournament, fell to St. Luke’s on Friday, 3-0.

Jemison, competing in Class 4A but also in Montgomery, fell to Charles Henderson, 3-0.

Billingsley is the only Chilton County area team whose season is still ongoing.
