Sarrell Dental to host basketball camp

Published 6:57pm Tuesday, July 10, 2012

Sarrell Dental, a non-profit organization specializing in dental care for children on AllKids and Medicare, will be hosting its basketball camp at Chilton County High School Saturday.

The camp is in its second year and, again, will feature several players from the University of Alabama’s team.

Brandi Parris, chief marketing officer for Sarrell, said that kids will learn about basketball, as well as ways to improve their health.

“We’ll talk about a lot of different things,” she said. “We’ll touch on dental health and encourage them to do the right things.”

Parris said the camps were started to help provide kids with opportunities they might not otherwise have.

“It’s a way for us to give back,” she said. “It’s a great opportunity for these kids to get to meet some of their heroes.”

The camp will be held at Chilton County High School from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and those who attend will learn techniques such as shooting, conditioning and defense. They will also receive a free T-shirt, which will be autographed by the camp counselors.

“It’s open to anyone in the community,” said Parris. “Ages 6-18, boys and girls, anyone in that age group that wants to come out.”
