Reception honors retiring Woodham

Cecil Woodham, who recently retired from Alabama Power Company as business manager of the company’s Clanton office, was honored with a reception in his honor Thursday.

Woodham retired Oct. 31 after 42 years and 4 months with Alabama Power. He started with the company as a junior accountant in 1969.

Since then, Woodham also worked in district and division accounting and was customer accounting auditor before being promoted to district accounting supervisor in 1976. He also has held numerous other supervisory and management positions with Alabama Power, including manager of the customer service center and assistant division accounting manager.

Woodham was promoted to Clanton’s business office in 1994, a position he has held ever since.

In addition to his work with Alabama Power, Woodham has served on numerous city, county and civic boards. Some leadership posts he has held include Chilton County Industrial Development Board president, Chilton County Chamber of Commerce president, Clanton Lions Club president, Chilton County United Way vice president and Family First board chairman.

During Thursday’s ceremony, Woodham was honored with a plaque commemorating his time with Alabama Power. He was also give several gifts from his workers.
