Lemak to speak at Chamber luncheon

World renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lawrence J. Lemak will be speaking at the Chilton County Chamber’s monthly luncheon on Tuesday, April 5 at noon.

The luncheon will be held at First United Methodist Church Helen Parrish Activity Center.

Lemak is a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical School and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy and reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow.

As a leader in the field of arthroscopy, Lemak has published articles in numerous medical journals and has given presentations in the United States, England, Europe, Japan and South America.

Lemak also served as Interim Chairman or Orthopedics at the University of South Florida in Tampa from 2004 to 2006.

In the fall of 2009, Lemak moved his practice from Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham to Trinity Medical Center, a facility owned by Community Health Systems.

Many professional sports organizations and corporations call upon Lemak’s expertise as he serves as Medical Director for Major League Soccer, NFL Europe, Professional Golf Association and the Ladies Professional Gold Association and the new United Football League. He is also Team Physician for many colleges and universities including Alabama State University, Miles College and the University of Montevallo.

Lemak is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Virginia.

He has been involved in numerous projects, founded a number of organizations and has shown dedication to the community. He has received numerous awards and recognitions for his works including being inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 1998, as the Distinguished Sportsmen of the Year.

Lunch will cost $9 and is open to the public.
