Peggy Ann Brantley, 61, of Jemison, passed from this walk of life on Saturday, March 5, 2011.

She was the epitome of a matriarch, the center stone of the family. She will be overwhelmingly missed by all that had the honor to know and love her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Dessie Mae Smitherman; daughter, Deidra Brantley; and brother, D.C. Smitherman.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Wayne; her sister, Judy Brantley; her brother, Jeff Smitherman; her sons, Destry and Scotty Brantley; her grandchildren, Fletcher and Marissa Brantley; along with her loving daughter-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 8 from 6-8 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel Montevallo. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Randolph, with Pastor Kirk Smith officiating. Burial followed in the adjoining cemetery. She lay in-state one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers included Dane Brantley, Mike Roberson, Wade Burnett, Kelly Smitherman, Tony Faucett and Bennie Clay Smitherman.
