Knowledge is power

Published 5:09pm Friday, August 27, 2010

In a couple of weeks, voters will have a great opportunity to learn more about the men and women seeking local office in November’s election.

An election forum will be Monday, Sept. 13 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the new Municipal Complex in Jemison.

All local candidates, including those running for sheriff, Kevin Davis and Terry Wilson; school superintendent, Jason Griffin, Dave Hayden and Louise Pitts; and state representative, Jimmy Martin and Kurt Wallace, will all participate.

The candidates will be asked a series of predetermined questions; however, prescreened questions will also be taken that night.

We encourage everyone to make plans to attend the forum. Every election cycle, rumors and misinformation run rampant.

The forum provides a good opportunity to hear firsthand candidates speak about the tough issues facing Chilton County and the plan to address the challenges.

Chilton Leadership, the Chilton County Chamber of Commerce and the Chilton County Extension will sponsor the forum. Auburn University’s Jim Seroka will moderate the event.
