County Road 81 construction to begin April 30

Road construction on County Road 81 will begin the morning of April 30.

The roadwork will start where New Harmony Road meets U.S. 31, and the project is scheduled to continue along a section of Yellow Leaf Road and Bell Lane Road to Highway 145/Lay Dam Road.

According to County Engineer Tony Wearren, motorists traveling New Harmony Road will have to detour their route along County Road 633 and County Road 13.

Detour signs will be placed to help direct motorists.

The construction will take place in sections with portions of the road being completed before the next begins.

The first portion along New Harmony Road will involve pipe culvert replacement.

According to Wearren, there are 45 working days in connection with the project, which should ideally take just over a month to complete.

However, weather conditions and other obstacles can interrupt the project’s timetable.
