Another sales tax hearing planned

Residents of South Chilton County will get to voice their thoughts on a proposed referendum for a 1-cent sales tax increase Thursday night (Aug. 19).

The Chilton County Commission has organized a public hearing for 6 p.m. at Verbena Fire Department. The department is located at 3885 U.S. Highway 31 in Verbena.

The hearing will be the fourth in a series of hearings intended for the purpose of gathering input from the public. The other hearings have been held at Jemison, Clanton and Maplesville.

Following a presentation by members of the commission and other county leaders, the floor will be opened to the public for questions and comments.

Anyone who is unable to attend may send questions via another resident who plans on attending the meeting.

For more information, call the commission office at 755-1551.
