A grand party, a dinner and a mock murder are the three stages set for the Murder Mystery Fundraiser for Kelsey’s Place, a non-profit organization in Clanton.

The fundraiser will be June 7 at 6:30 p.m. in a large white house, located at 402 Second Ave. in Clanton, next to the Chilton County Courthouse.

Kelsey’s Place, located at 950 Lumac Road in Clanton, is an organization that is dedicated to helping people overcome obstacles with employment. The money from the fundraiser will aid the organization in assisting those that seek help with filling out job applications, writing resumes and searching for employment.

Renee Smith, founder of Kelsey’s Place, organized the event in hopes of not only raising money, but also gaining public awareness.

“The money will help us cover basic expenses as we attempt to make the public and local businesses aware of the services we offer,” Smith said. “We are very excited to serve Chilton County and the surrounding areas in this way.”

There will be food provided by Boomerang’s and Durbin Farms, as well as various door prizes.

The tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 205-755-7101.

For more information on Kelsey’s Place, call the above number or e-mail kelseysplace950@gmail.com.

The fundraiser will include various characters acting out the scenes leading up to the mock murder. Those in attendance will attempt to figure out who committed the murder by being attentive to the actors and gathering clues hidden around the household.

Smith contributed the following story line for the event:

“Lord and Lady Westby’s (played by Tommy and Ann Glasscock) beautiful estate has been in the family since the 1500s, but like so many other families, the Westbys have fallen on hard times and are in danger of losing their ancestral home because there is no male heir to inherit it, when their beautiful daughter, Lady Lila Westby (played by Kristin Mims) becomes engaged to Ambrose Haines (played by Kyle Mims) who has the financial resources to make certain the family is able to remain in the home. We will be celebrating this couple’s upcoming union with a grand party, when we learn that there has been a murder on the estate. The family, along with their loyal and dedicated butler, Mr. Walter Eaton (played by Barry Rowe) and their equally loyal housekeeper, Eudora Crane, (played by Annette Rowe) work to make certain that the guests enjoy the evening’s festivities, but remember one of these people have something to hide. Can you figure out who it is?”
