Movies in the Park set for June

The Thorsby Fire Department will hold its annual Summer Movies in the Park throughout Fridays in June.

The movies will be shown on a big projection screen at Richard Wood Park in downtown Thorsby.

This year’s list of films includes Ribbit on June 8, Safe Harbor on June 15, Step Dogs on June 22 and My Mother’s Future Husband on June 29.

The movies will begin at dusk and are considered family friendly.

“We know it means a lot to the community,” Interim Fire Chief Josh Parker said.

According to Parker, the fire department has helped organize the event for several years now.

The movies are free and residents can bring lawn chairs and coolers.

Vertillo Pizza and Grill in Thorsby will be on site selling slices of pizza and can drinks.

Sponsors for the events are Sheriff John Shearon, Ellison Memorial Funeral Home, Probate Judge Bobby Martin and Red Zone Sports Grill in Jemison.

Anyone with questions or looking for ways to get involved with the event can call the Thorsby Fire Department at (205) 646-3725.
