Clanton saloon to host Conway Twitty tribute

Cowboy Down Saloon in Clanton will pay tribute to some of the greatest musical hits of Conway Twitty during a performance on Saturday.

Helping in the remembrance will be Michael Twitty, the legendary country star’s oldest son.

According to owner Ronnie Miskelley, 95 percent of the show will consist of songs made popular during the career of Conway Twitty.

“Who better to represent Twitty than his own son,” Miskelley said. “He sings just as good as his dad. It’s amazing.”

One thing for sure, is that memories of the past will be alive and well once the music starts playing.

Twitty has performed various shows in memory of his father over the years including the “Michael Twitty Show,” “Memories of Conway Show,” and the “Twitty Bird Show.”

Twitty tours internationally from Canada to Japan, as well as throughout the United States. For the past two months, Miskelley has been putting his full effort into

The show is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m.

Tickets are $20 apiece and are avialbale for purchase at the saloon prior to the event or the day off.

Limited seating is available and will be handed out on a first-come-first-serve basis.

“Come early to claim your seat, because there’s no guarantee that one will be left by the time the show rolls around,” Miskelley said.

Twitty will serve as the main event, while “Last Chance Band” will provide the after show entertainment.

“We’re just trying to remember some great music,” Miskelley said. “Everybody who loved Conway, will love this show.”
