Butterfly Bridge fundraiser scheduled for Feb. 4

Butterfly Bridge officials have set a fundraising goal of $15,000 leading up to the annual Flutter event.

The largest fundraising event for Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center, offering a sure-to-please auction, food and music, Flutter is scheduled to be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Clanton Conference and Performing Arts Center on the Jefferson State Community Clanton Campus.

Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. They may be purchased in advance by calling Butterfly Bridge’s office at (205) 755-4205, or online at www.butterflybridgecac.org.

Unwilling to turn anyone away, last-minute tickets can also be purchased at the door.

This year’s music will be provided by Central Alabama acoustic duo Cotton Bird (visit CottonBirdMusic.com for more information).

Following the nights’ “Around the World” theme, Jemison High School culinary arts students will contribute cuisine representative of countries around the globe.

With 100 items listed in the live auction and 8-10 in the silent auction, there is “something for everyone and all price brackets,” Butterfly Bridge Executive Director Jana Zuelzke said.

“Local artists have donated art, jewelry, pottery and books,” Zuelzke said. “There’s also a week-long stay at Lake Martin’s Sunset Point at Stillwaters, a Japanese maple from Coach Pat Dye’s farm, and a golf package, to mention just a few. There are a lot of different items for a lot of different interests.”

Playing auctioneer for the night, Chilton County Superintendent of Education Tommy Glasscock said he is eager to help shed a light on this special cause.

“Flutter is an exciting event that is well thought out and well supported by the community,” Glasscock said. “From an educational standpoint, Butterfly Bridge provides children who have gone through traumatic experiences a safe environment in which to heal.”

On track to meet their goal of $15,000, Butterfly Bridge officials are hoping to double last year’s fundraising amount of $8,400.

All money raised goes toward helping to keep the doors of Butterfly Bridge’s Clanton office open, allowing them to provide crucial services that will keep residents from having to travel to Montgomery when seeking the life-changing help they so desperately need.

A non-profit organization, Butterfly Bridge works with the Department of Human Resources, local law enforcement and the district attorney’s office to conduct neutral fact-finding interviews within a child-friendly environment, while also offering therapy and support systems.
