Financial seminar to be held in Clanton

State Farm agent Matt Benson is helping host a free financial seminar on March 3 at 6 p.m. in the Clanton Performing Arts Center at Jeff State.

The workshop will focus on financial preparedness and steps to take when developing a plan for the future.

According to Benson, it is the first time that State Farm will host a seminar of its kind in Chilton County.

A financial advisor will be on hand to address any questions pertaining to finances that people may have. Dinner will be provided and catered by Neighborhood Grill.

Steps in the financial process that will be discussed include what to look for when purchasing your first car and how to prepare for your first home purchase.

“People fear that they’ll run out of money in their retirement years,” Benson said.

Benson hopes that the seminar sheds some light on the importance of getting a financial plan in place and budgeting money.

“We’re sending people home with good tools on how to make insurance work for them,” Benson said.

The event is free to the public, but space is limited with only 30 available spots. Those interested in attending are asked to call Matt Benson’s office at (205) 258-5715 or email matt@agentmattbenson.com to reserve a spot.

“That way it is small enough to spend time answering everybody’s questions,” Benson said. State Farm really believes in being a blessing to the community. Hopefully this is the first of many similar seminars.”

A social security and a retirement seminar will each be held his year in late summer and early fall.

“There is so much that we can do to educate people,” Benson said. “Everyone works hard for their money, and this is a way that I can give back.”
