EDC available at reduced local rates

The Jefferson State/Clanton Economic Development Center now offers local rates for residents of Chilton County in an effort to encourage more residents to rent the new facility.

“This is such a beautiful facility, and the community needs to take advantage of it being in their backyard,” said Sandy Stevens, event coordinator for the EDC. “The performance hall is unlike anything in this area. It has 608 tiered seats and built-in state-of-the art sound and lighting designed for musicals, dance performances, concerts and theatrical productions.“

The local rate for the performance hall is $800 compared to the regular for-profit rate of $1,300. The EDC also offers non-profit rates, though the local rates are lower.

The exhibit hall is a 13,000 square feet (approximately 90 feet x 145 feet long) facility that was designed for trade shows and exhibits.

“It’s a big room,” Stevens said. “In addition to exhibits, we can do anything from graduations to receptions to cheerleading and judo competitions in that room. We anticipate purchasing room dividers that will enable us to partition off part of the exhibit hall so smaller groups wouldn’t feel lost in there.”

The local rate for the exhibit hall is $600 compared to the regular for-profit rate of $1,000.

Local residents can complete a survey on the types of events they’d like to see and hear. Survey results will help determine what types of events the EDC will focus on attracting. Take the survey at Survey Monkey.
