Commission chairman’s home destroyed by storm

Included in the damage from Monday morning’s storms was the home of Chilton County Commission Chairman and well-known local businessman Tim Mims.

Aaron Ellison, a business partner with Mims at Ellison-Mims Funeral Home, said Mims’ home was destroyed.

“I just think everybody is mainly in shock,” Ellison said. “I think it’s going to take a day or two for everything to settle in.”

Mims’ home was near the intersection of County Road 10 and Highway 82 in Maplesville.

Ellison said Mims was woken by a phone call from a relative just in time for him to get to a hallway. He was uninjured and the only one home at the time of the storm.

“He wants everybody to know that he appreciates the support and continued prayers,” Ellison said.
