Sentences handed down in local cases

Three Chilton County men were sentenced to prison terms this week by Circuit Court Judge Sibley Reynolds, Deputy District Attorney C.J. Robinson said.

Two of the sentences were handed down in sexual abuse cases.

Lloyd Voight, 36, of Clanton, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for first-degree rape and 15 years for incest for crimes committed in 2010. The sentences will be served concurrently. Both charges are felonies.

Scott Buehler, 20, of Jemison was sentenced to 15 years each on two counts of sexual abuse of a child under age 12, which is a felony. The sentences will be served concurrently.

Kevin Peters, 38, of Jemison was sentenced for two counts of third-degree burglary, one count of first-degree theft of property and one count of second-degree theft of property.

Each count carries an eight-year sentence. The sentences will be served concurrently. All of Peters’ crimes were felonies.

“I know nothing can undo the emotional damage done by these criminals.  They have broken into our homes, stolen our property, and preyed upon children,” Robinson said. “They are predators, and I am just happy they will be spending their time in prison instead of down the street from you and me.”
