Local Clanton residents and visitors from all over lined Main Street in Clanton on, June 28, for the Peach Parade. Clanton Mayor Jeff Mims, in the third float of the parade, waved from the top of an elevated platform in a fire truck. Peach Pageant Queens and their alternates threw candy from heavily decorated floats. Given the nature of the reelection season, politicians lined cars with campaign posters plastered all over them and gently tossed candy at children. There were visitors from Mobile, Montgomery, Birmingham and Fairhope enjoying the Peach Parade. A few high school bands played and marched through the streets of Clanton all in honor of Chilton County’s beloved peach crop. The parade started at 9 a.m., went through Main Street and then looped around to Clanton First Baptist Church, where the Chilton County Peach Auction was held.
