Angie Caudle’s resignation as director of parks and recreation was approved unanimously by the Thorsby City Council at the June 16 city council meeting. Caudle had worked as the parks and recreation director for two years.
Thorsby City Council also approved Todd Bowen as the new parks and recreation director at the meeting.
“I ain’t gonna do no worse, I promise,” said Bowen during the council meeting. “I’m not doing it for the money.”
While Bowen’s family sat in the back of the meeting, he addressed a couple of things he wanted to do as he takes over in his new parks and recreation position.
“When I talked to the (board) I told them there would be accountability for everybody,” said Bowen.
Bowen inquired about a new lawn mower to cut the fields that Mayor Robert Hight said should fit into the budget given the correct maintenance is insured with the new mower. Hight also inquired about two pieces of equipment that were no longer running — a tractor and a field machine. The tractor and field machine are going to be taken in to see if they can be repaired.
A few other items brought up at the June 16 meeting was a water leak at the fire station that is in the process of being repaired, a pipe that needed repaired by the water and sewer department and a potential grant for improving a couple of pipes around town.
