Parole hearings held for Chilton offenders

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles held hearings on May 1 and 8 with Chilton County offenders involved and one being granted an early release.
On May 1, three Chilton County offenders had their parole hearing held. First, David Wayne Cunningham was granted parole by the board with the special conditions to complete a substance abuse program, the Perry County Probation/Parole Reentry Education Program (PREP), wear an ankle monitor and complete a drug assessment after his release. Cunningham had Kim Cunningham, his mother, and Jimmie Kizziah, his grandmother, speak in favor of parole being granted during the hearing, and no one spoke against it. Cunningham was serving a 36-month sentence for a Criminal Possession of Forged Instrument arrest in Chilton County on Dec. 5, 2024. Cunningham had served eight months and 23 days of his sentence at the time of parole being granted.
Steven L. Dennis was denied parole on May 1 by the board but received a reset date of Sept. 1, 2025. Bonnie Yates, Dennis’ mother, and Mamie Thomas, Dennis’ aunt, spoke in favor of parole being granted during the hearing, and no one spoke against it. Dennis is currently serving a 36-month sentence for a Promoting Prison Contraband arrest in Chilton County on Feb. 15, 2024. Dennis has currently served one year, three months and eight days of his sentence.
Lastly, on May 1, Corey Channing Jackson was denied parole by the board but received a reset date of April 1, 2027. Jackson had his brother, Christian Jackson, and his mother, Cynthia Jackson, speak in favor of parole during the hearing, but Bill Lisenby and Sarah Deneve of the Attorney General’s office spoke against parole being granted. Jackson is currently serving a 10-year sentence for a Robbery I arrest in Chilton County on Nov, 8, 2021. Jackson has currently served three years, six months and 13 days of his sentence and has a minimum release date of Nov. 6, 2031.
On May 8, Eddie James Arrington was denied parole by the board but received a reset date of May 1, 2027. Arrington is currently serving a 73-month sentence for an array of charges, including a Theft of Property I arrest in Chilton County on Dec. 12, 2024 that comes with a 25-month sentence. Arrington has currently served one year, two months and 22 days of his sentence with 640 days of good time received included. Arrington has a minimum release date of Sept. 28, 2027.
