The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced plans to resurface two roads in Clanton that will improve traffic conditions on U.S. Highway 31 and State Route 145. The project will improve safety and mobility on both roads.
The project includes resurfacing U.S. Highway 31 from the intersection of Newport Avenue to Inverness Drive and State Route 145 from U.S. Highway 31 to First Street. The projects will be conducted during the nighttime from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. to reduce the impact on traffic. Work will begin on May 19 and will continue until the fall later this year, as weather permits.
Wiregrass Construction Company was awarded the project at $2.04 million. ALDOT says motorists should expect possible delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
