The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office put a close on its investigation into an attempted murder in Maplesville that led to the arrest of a man on April 30. CCSO deputies arrested Tony Curtis Mitchell Jr. in connection to the attempted murder, and Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon says there are no other suspects being looked into for the incident.
On April 29, CCSO deputies and officers from the Maplesville Police Department responded to a 911 call in rural Maplesville with a female in distress. When officers arrived, they found a female victim with severe lacerations to both of her hands and possible internal injuries. The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she received medical care and is expected to be okay.
Officers launched an investigation into the incident and identified Mitchell as the primary suspect. They quickly located Mitchell in the early morning hours of April 30 and he was charged with attempted murder.
“Our office remains fully committed to protecting the citizens of Chilton County,” Shearon said. “We appreciate the swift and professional response of our deputies and the Maplesville Police Department.”
Mitchell’s bond he received was revoked during a hearing on May 5 that will keep him in jail.
