The Chilton County area had four high schools represented at the AHSAA State Track Meets on May 1-3 and brought home multiple top-10 finishes including one bronze medal by Billingsley High School’s Zara Estrict in the girls 100-meter hurdles.

The Bears team sent around 10 athletes to the state meet and had six top-10 finishes, but none higher than Estrict’s effort. The junior ripped off a time of 17.49 to claim the third step on the podium. Billingsley also had top-10 showings from senior Edward Dennis claiming fourth place in the boys 300-meter hurdles and sixth place in the boys 110-meter hurdles. Junior Alana Jones also collected two top-10 spots — sixth place in the girls 300-meter hurdles and eighth place in the girls 400-meter dash.

Other impressive finishers were Sedrick Rudolph of Isabella High School finishing fifth in the boys Class 2A triple jump finals with a jump of 40-feet, 10.25-inches. Freshman Asharia Craig claimed eighth place in the girls Class 2A long jump finals with a jump of 14-feet, 4-inches for the Mustangs.
