AOTW: Rudolph earns three medals at Class 2A sectionals

Isabella High School’s Sedrick Rudolph is this week’s athlete of the week after his performances at the AHSAA Class 2A Section 2 track meet on April 25-26. Rudolph was named the MVP of the field events at the sectional meet behind two silver medals and a gold medal that led to three state championship meet spots.
The senior took home the silver medal in the long jump at sectionals with a 20-foot, 1.75-inch jump and will be the No. six seed in the AHSAA Class 1A-3A State Championship Meet. Rudolph also won the silver medal in the high jump at sectionals with a 5-foot, 4-inch jump that landed Rudolph as the No. 18 seed at the state meet. Rudolph was able to take the extra step in the triple jump at sectionals to claim gold with a 39-foot, 6.75-inch jump that will have him as the No. six seed at the state meet. Rudolph also set a personal record in the 100-meter dash with a 12.27.
Honorable mention: Hannah Crowe, Maplesville High School
Hannah Crowe put together a dominant performance for Maplesville High School in the Class 1A Area 7 tournament to help the Red Devils defend home field and win the title on April 25. Crowe went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the first-round win over Verbena 14-4 with a two-run home run and five RBIs. In the championship game, Maplesville took it 12-0 behind Crowe’s 2-for-3 effort with another two-run home run and six RBIs.
