Postseason time has come for Chilton County area high school softball teams as they take to the diamond for their respective area tournaments on April 25-28 with regional tournament spots on the line. Chilton County and Maplesville High Schools will host their respective tournaments, while the other five area high schools hit the road to keep their state tournament aspirations alive. All tournaments are double elimination, and the winners and runners-up from each area tournament will advance to the regional tournament.
AHSAA Class 1A Area 7 Tournament at Maplesville High School
The packed Class 1A Area 7 tournament features three schools from Chilton County doing battle at Maplesville High School from April 25-26. The hosts will get the tournament started on April 25 at 4 p.m. playing Breakthrough Charter School in the first round, followed by the Billingsley and Verbena High School first-round matchup at 5:30 p.m. The first elimination game will close out night one at 7 p.m. with the losers from the first-round matchups.
Day two on will start with the winner’s bracket game at 10 a.m. to put a team into the championship game, followed by the second elimination game at noon. The Class 1A Area 7 championship game is slated for 2 p.m., and if needed, the final game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
AHSAA Class 2A Area 7 Tournament at Horseshoe Bend High School
Isabella High School will hit the road for the Class 2A Area 7 tournament taking place on April 28. The one-day tournament will kick off with Isabella facing Central of Coosa County High School in the first round at 10 a.m. If the Mustangs win, they will face Horseshoe Bend in the winner’s bracket at noon, but a loss puts Isabella in the loser’s bracket at 2 p.m. The championship game of the tournament is slated for 4 p.m., and if needed, the final game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
AHSAA Class 3A Area 8 Tournament at Childersburg High School
Thorsby High School will also hit the road for their one-day area tournament, traveling to Childersburg High School on April 26. The Rebels start the tournament at 10 a.m. facing B.B. Comer High School in the first round. If the Rebels win, they will face Childersburg in the winner’s bracket at noon, but a loss puts Thorsby in the loser’s bracket at 2 p.m. The championship game of the tournament is slated for 4 p.m., and if needed, the final game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
AHSAA Class 5A Area 7 Tournament at Demopolis High School
Jemison High School gets their Class 5A Area 7 tournament started on April 25 at 1 p.m. against Montevallo High School in the first round. If the Panthers win, they will play later in the day at 5 p.m. in the winner’s bracket, but if they lose, they will play at 3 p.m. in the loser’s bracket. The rest of the tournament will be completed on April 28 starting with the second elimination game at noon. The championship game of the tournament is scheduled for 2 p.m., and if needed, the final game is slated for 4 p.m.
AHSAA Class 6A Area 5 Tournament at Chilton County High School
Chilton County High School joins Maplesville as the only hosts of their respective area tournaments in Chilton County. The Tigers will await the winner of Benjamin Russell and Calera High Schools on April 25 at 7 p.m. A win puts CCHS into the championship game on April 26 at 3:30 p.m. A loss would put them in the loser’s bracket at 1 p.m. on April 26. If needed, the final game is slated for 5:30 p.m.
