The Chilton County Commission called for a special work session on April 29 at its meeting on April 22 to introduce the revised subdivision regulations that hope to clearly distinguish between a developer and regular citizen in Chilton County. Commissioner Roger Perkins called for the work session to be at 6:30 p.m. on April 29 in the Commission Chambers of the Chilton County Courthouse, and it was unanimously approved.

Perkins, along with Commissioners Alan Childress and Allen Williams, have worked for several weeks on rewriting the subdivision regulations for the county following a public forum in February that introduced some areas where the regulations did not best fit the citizens. At the work session, a synopsis of the new regulations and the changes that will most affect the general public will be handed out to attendees before it is discussed by the commissioners.

“Everything in this we have taken to heart, put many hours into it and we feel like this is extremely beneficial to the county and well defines what a developer is and who a regular individual is,” Perkins said during the April 22 meeting. “We are pleased with it, excited for it and think it will get us to where we want to get, but still protect the individual rights of the citizens.”

The work session is completely open to the public, however, it will be a bit more formal than the public forum in February. If the public has a question the Commission can invite them to the podium to address it, but in a more orderly fashion similar to a regular commission meeting.
