Six local high school baseball teams punched their tickets to the AHSAA state baseball playoffs, and their trek to bring home a state championship starts in the first round on April 17-19. All first-round pairings are best two-out-of-three series.

Two teams, Thorsby and Billingsley High Schools, will be hosting their first-round matchups. The Bears, winners of Class 1A Area 6, will host local foe Verbena High School, the Class 1A Area 7 runner-up, on April 17 at 5 and 7 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played on April 18 at 2 p.m. The Rebels, winners of Class 3A Area 7, play host to Lee-Scott Academy, runners-up in Class 3A Area 6, on April 18 at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played on April 19 at 2 p.m.

Joining Verbena, the other three teams will hit the road for the first round as well. Class 1A Area 6 runners-up Maplesville High School will travel to the Class 1A Area 7 winners Autauga Academy on April 17 at 4:30 and 6 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played on April 18 at 2 p.m. Isabella High School, runners-up in Class 2A Area 7, travels to Reeltown High School, winners of Class 2A Area 6, on April 18 at 4 and 6:30 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played on April 19 at noon. The Class 5A Area 7 runners-up Jemison High School travel to Class 5A Area 6 winners Elmore County High School on April 18 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. If a third game is needed it will be played on April 19 at 1 p.m.

-Verbena @ Billingsley on April 17 at 5 and 7 p.m. (Game 3 on April 18 at 1 p.m. if needed)

-Maplesville @ Autauga Academy on April 17 at 4:30 and 6 p.m. (Game 3 on April 18 at 2 p.m. if needed)

-Lee-Scott Academy @ Thorsby on April 18 at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. (Game 3 on April 19 at 2 p.m. if needed)

-Jemison @ Elmore County on April 18 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. (Game 3 on April 19 at 1 p.m. if needed)

-Isabella @ Reeltown on April 18 at 4 and 6:30 p.m. (Game 3 on April 19 at noon if needed)
