When the dust settled on Jack Hayes Field after the 2025 Chilton County Baseball Tournament, it was the Tigers of Chilton County High School once again standing tall after capturing their fifth consecutive tournament title. The double elimination tournament got altered a bit due to impending weather coming in near the end of the tournament, but it was picture-perfect scenes for the most part throughout the action from March 10-14.
The Tigers won their first three games over Maplesville, Thorsby and Jemison High Schools to reach the final on March 14 unbeaten. The Panthers of Jemison took the road less traveled and battled through four games to make the tournament final.
Brody Pierce started the final with a lead-off home run for CCHS that set the tone and helped build an early 3-0 lead. The Panthers came to play in the final as well, cutting the lead to 3-2 after Brody Blackmon’s two-RBI single in the fourth inning. The Tigers responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning to take a 6-2 lead, but Jemison fought back again. They posted three runs in their next half inning behind an RBI single from Jon Paul Gentry and a two-RBI single from London Colton.
After that, CCHS scored the game’s final seven runs to cruise to the 13-5 win late behind three home runs — Pierce, Stephen Cromer and J.D. Terrell. Pierce was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Cromer and Coven Crumpton each knocked in two runs and J.D. Terrell went 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
The Panthers got production throughout their lineup with seven of their nine hitters recording a hit, but Colton’s 2-for-4 effort and Blackmon’s 2-for-3 effort were the only multi-hit stat lines in the final for Jemison.
