The City of Clanton, Mayor Jeff Mims and the Clanton City Council recently announced the future installation of new lighting, roofing and a new sound system for the stage at Corner Park in downtown Clanton that is sure to enhance the entertainment value of the area for years to come.

Located in the heart of the entertainment district of downtown Clanton, Clanton Corner Park is a staple when it comes to downtown events such as the Peach City Fest, annual holiday parades and the city’s farmers market. The addition of new lighting, roofing and a sound system will create more opportunities for additional events throughout the year, and expand already existing ones.

The city received two grants that provided funding for the upgrades. The first was a $10,000 grant provided by the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham that the city received in 2024, and the grant did not require any matching funds from the city. The second grant was for $40,000 and was awarded in 2025 by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) by way of the Alabama’s Healthy Food Financing Program. The program funds projects that increase access to healthy food in underserved communities. The addition of the farmers market by the city last year made the grant possible.

The upgrades to the stage at Corner Park are expected to be complete within the next two months. The stage is poised to be ready and expand the possibilities for the upcoming summer events in downtown Clanton.
