Jemison High School’s London Colton and Carter Domino are this week’s athletes of the week after throwing consecutive no-hitters in the first and second rounds of the 2025 Chilton County Baseball Tournament on March 10 and 11.

On March 10, the Panthers opened their tournament against Verbena High School and the offense was alive and well, posting 10 runs in five innings. However, it was Colton on the mound that was the star of the show. Colton threw five innings and surrendered no hits, only walked three batters and struck out 11. Forty-five of Colton’s 67 pitches were called for a strike during his dominant performance.

After Colton helped send Jemison to the second round it was Domino’s turn with the ball, and he did exactly the same thing on March 11. Domino fired five no-hit innings on 74 pitches with 50 called for a strike, only walked two batters and struck out 14. It appears to be the first time that back-to-back no-hitters were thrown in the history of the Chilton County Baseball Tournament.

The performances by Colton and Domino are reminiscent of Isabella High School’s Harold Lockhart’s performance in 1953 against Verbena High School where he struck out all 21 batters he faced, but lost the game. On the final batter, a dropped third strike forced a throwing error by the catcher to first base that led to the error turning into the game-winning run. Lockhart’s official tally? Six and two-third innings, 21 strikeouts and the loss.

According to the AHSAA Baseball Record Book at www.ahsaa.com, consecutive no-hitters have been thrown back-to-back only once before in AHSAA history — Fayette County High School’s Hunter Walker and Braxton Rhodes in 2014. This marks Colton and Domino’s performance as only the second time such a thing has happened in the history of high school baseball in Alabama.
