The hometown girl Marlie Giles and the entire University of Alabama softball program paid her hometown of Clanton a visit on March 10 while on the way to Mobile. The program visited Clanton while in route to Mobile for their March 11 matchup against The University of South Alabama, which the Crimson Tide won 15-3.

The two charter buses pulled into Clanton and visited Giles’ family for lunch in town. Then, as the team made their way out of Clanton, they made a stop at Clanton Elementary School to see some of Giles’ biggest young fans. CMS students lined the streets with signs and shakers to welcome Giles and the program to their school.

The junior catcher has started 20 games so far this season for the Crimson Tide, and was named a 2025 Softball American Preseason Top 100 player, ranked No. 85.
