The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office released information relating to a recent human trafficking arrest near the Jemison community on Feb. 26. CCSO officers, along with help from the Jemison Police Department, arrested 39-year-old Juan Carlos Marciel-Dominguez of Jemison for first degree Human Trafficking and he was booked into the Chilton County Jail.

On Feb. 23, deputies from the CCSO responded to a welfare check in the unincorporated area of Jemison. When they arrived, deputies made contact with a female who stated that her current boyfriend was forcing her into prostitution. The details were shared with the Chilton County Special Operations Unit for further investigation.

With the initial findings and additional investigation, warrants were obtained for Dominguez on Human Trafficking charges in the first degree. On Feb. 26, members of the Special Operations Unit and JPD conducted an operation to arrest Dominguez where he was taken into custody after fleeing in both a vehicle and on foot.

“Sheriff John Shearon remains steadfast in his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and will continue to work diligently to combat human trafficking within our community,” a press release from the CCSO said.

The investigation for this case is ongoing. This story will be updated as more information is learned.
