Relay for Life Pageant date set for April 26

The date for the 11th annual Miss Relay for Life Pageant in Chilton County is set for April 26 as a new queen is set to be crowned to help lead the county’s fight against cancer.

All contestants participating in the pageant must be a resident of Chilton County or attend a school in Chilton County. Applications are now available at any school in Chilton County, Classy Touch Boutique, Chilton-Clanton Public Library, Jemison Public Library, J&J Printing, or by requesting one via email from Relay for Life Pageant organizer Sunny Mays at ribitfrog@att.net. Applications are also available on the Miss Relay for Life Pageant of Chilton County, Alabama Facebook page.

Divisions for the pageant are Wee Miss (four-five years old), Tiny Miss (six-eight years old), Little Miss (nine-10 years old), Young Miss (11-12 years old), Junior Miss (13-15 years old) and Miss Relay (16-18 years old). The entry fee is $40 for the pageant and $20 for the photogenic contest, or $45 for both. The photogenic contest is for ages four-18. All proceeds from the pageant benefit The American Cancer Society, and a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the 2025 Miss Relay for Life Queen.

The festivities for the pageant begin on March 16 with sign-ups for the pageant at West End Baptist Church’s Family Life Center from 1:30-3 p.m. The 2024 Relay for Life Queens — Wee Miss Relay Haizel Grace Smith, Tiny Miss Relay Caroline Ray, Little Miss Relay Kailynn Baily, Young Miss Relay Ava Whittle, Junior Miss Relay Kinnsley Traywick and Miss Relay Gracie Brewer will be in attendance to share their experiences throughout their reign.

The 11th annual Miss Relay for Life Pageant on April 26 is sponsored by West End Baptist Church and will be held inside the auditorium at Chilton County High School. Doors open at 11 a.m. for contestants and noon for the public. The Wee Miss, Tiny Miss and Little Miss Pageants will start at 1 p.m., followed by the Young Miss, Junior Miss and Miss Pageants at 3 p.m.

Door admission for the pageants is $5 for adults, $3 for children and students and ages four and under are free. Programs will be available for $3, and a balloon backdrop from Pop Your Party will be available for photo opportunities.
