Chilton County High School’s soccer home opener on Feb. 11 fell victim to rain, but the Tigers’ junior varsity boys won a tournament during the program’s week of play. The JV boys won the Gold Division of the Capital of Dreams High School Classic in Montgomery by winning all three of their matches over St. James and West Point High Schools and Montgomery Academy by a combined score of 16-1.
The varsity girls team also competed at the Capital of Dreams High School Classic and got a goal from Nina Romero off an assist by Kendall Moore in their 5-1 defeat to Wetumpka High School.
The Tigers were poised for their home opener against LAMP High School on Feb. 11, but rain forced the games to be canceled and they will not be rescheduled. Next up for CCHS will be the varsity boys playing in the Copper Division of the Lakeshore Shootout in Birmingham on Feb. 14-15. The Tigers face Brookwood High School at 4 p.m. at Pelham High School and Holy Spirit Catholic School at Veterans Park in Alabaster at 8:30 p.m. on the first day of the tournament, followed by Holy Family Catholic School at the Eagle Sports Complex in Calera at 11 a.m. the second day. The new home opener for CCHS will be Feb. 18 when they host Marbury High School.
