Tigers defend homecourt in night two of county tournaments

Night two of the 2025 Chilton County Basketball Tournaments belonged to the hosts as Chilton County High School swept all three games to advance in the three tournaments. The Tigers’ night started with a junior varsity win over Thorsby High School that put them into the championship game before both of its varsity teams outlasted Isabella High School on Jan. 7 at CCHS to advance to the semifinals.

 

Varsity Boys 1st Round — Isabella High School vs. Chilton County High School

The varsity boys of CCHS earned a wire-to-wire win over Isabella to cap night two of the county tournaments with a 67-32 win. Cayden Meank got things started with an alley-oop slam to open the game, and continued his hot start with an and-one layup and the following free throw to stretch the Tigers’ lead to 11-0 midway through the opening quarter.

Colton Conway posted the first Mustang basket with a lay in, but CCHS built a 17-4 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Garrett Price knocked down a three-pointer to keep things interesting, but the Tigers continued their onslaught. Their lead blossomed to 32-14 later in the quarter, and eventually 38-14 at halftime before cruising in the second half.

Isabella was led by Jordan Hines with eight points, followed by Price with six points and Austin Porter with five points.

CCHS advances to the semifinals and will face Thorsby with a spot in the title game on the line. The game will be Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Chilton County High School following the schedule change due to weather.

 

Varsity Girls 1st Round — Isabella High School vs. Chilton County High School

It was a long-awaited moment for the varsity girls of CCHS as they picked up their first win of the 2024-2025 season, taking down Isabella 93-7 in the first round of the county tournament. The dominating performance started with the Tigers jumping out to a 33-0 lead after the first quarter, and building it to 56-7 at halftime. Their defense was stifling in the second half and held the Mustangs scoreless to earn the win.

CCHS advances to the semifinals and will face Thorsby with a spot in the title game on the line. The game will be Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. at Chilton County High School following the schedule change due to weather.

 

Junior Varsity Boys Semifinal Round — Thorsby High School vs. Chilton County High School

The junior varsity boys team at CCHS was the first team in the 2025 Chilton County Basketball Tournaments to punch their ticket to a championship game after a 37-25 win over Thorsby to kickoff night two. This sets up a matchup with either Jemison High School or Maplesville High School on Jan. 9 at 4:30 p.m. at Chilton County High School following the schedule change due to weather.
