The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office announced that they have suspended the search for Matthew Alan Clark following a turn of events in the Jemison area.

Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon described the incident as a domestic type of situation involving Clark and his girlfriend. While not confirmed at the moment, it is reported that Clark fired a weapon and pointed it at the female subject. Officers believe Clark then hid in the woods, but the K9 dogs could not pick up a scent of him during the search. Shearon and officers are not sure if Clark got a ride out of the scene or what, but believe he left the area before they could arrive.

The CCSO announced it was searching for Clark, described as a 5-foot-9-inch, 145-pound white male, in the area of County Road 151. He was last seen wearing a navy shirt, beige shorts and an armored vest, and the CCSO believe Clark is armed.

The CCSO urged residents in the area to remain inside and behind locked doors to ensure their safety. Shearon said the sheriff’s office will sign warrants for Clark’s arrest, and officers will continue their pursuit for him after that.

If anyone sees anything suspicious, the CCSO encourages people to call 911.
