After months of preparations, the new Thorsby City Hall at 20688 U.S. Highway 31 in Thorsby is up and operating. After acquiring the building in December, Thorsby navigated a few minor delays in services getting hooked up at the new location such as phone lines and internet. The property is now fully furnished, fully set up and outfitted with a sign out front.

Services that will be at the new city hall include water payments, and the building houses the court clerk, city clerk and mayor’s offices.

The old city hall location will house the Thorsby Police Department and its staff as well as becoming the new location for both the Thorsby City Council meetings and Thorsby Municipal Court.

“I think this move allows Thorsby more growth in a lot of areas,” Cindy Crawford, a member of the city of Thorsby staff, said.

Crawford added that everything fell into place having a bigger, and vacant, building in close proximity to the old city hall. Mayor Robert Hight saw an opportunity and took advantage of it. A move that allows more space for all of the city of Thorsby’s departments to operate.
