Board denies parole for inmate with Chilton ties

The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles issued parole hearing decisions for multiple inmates on May 18, one of which whose charges originate in Chilton County.

Benjamin Wesley Underwood was denied parole with no reset date on May 18. Underwood is serving a five-year sentence for a class-B felony. He was sentenced on Jan. 26 of this year.

According to the minutes from the parole hearing, Underwood’s sister Jatorria Myrick and father Jerome Underwood spoke in favor of the parole being granted. After an executive session, the board voted to deny parole with no reset date.
